The centre of the district is Menzelinsk. Area – 1919,8 square km. Population – 31,2 thousand people. The district was founded in 1930. Menzelinsk is situated on the low bank of the river Menzelya, 292 km to the east from Kazan, 65 km to the east from the railway station Krugloe Pole. The settlement was founded in the 16th century.
